"When you have a disease, do not try to cure it.  Find your Center and you will be healed."
Taoist proverb

Why the Photo Above?

When I was able to discard glasses and contact lenses after having used them for over 22 years, I did it by learning and applying the methods of Dr. William H. Bates, which are the primary methods which I use today, with my students.  Although a friend had introduced me to the writings of Dr. Bates, it wasn't until I found a teacher with good eyesight that truely understood the work of Dr. Bates that my eyesight got better.  Dr. Bates states in some of his writings, "...persons whose cases are obstinate will find it very difficult, if not impossible, to cure themselves without the aid of a teacher."

However, the first person Dr. Bates was able to cure of presbyopia, the problem of not being able to read text up close, was himself.  Part of his story for improving his eyesight for reading text close up without glasses goes as follows:

"One day, while looking at a picture of the Rock of Gibraltar which hung on the wall, I noted some black spots on its face.  I imagined that these spots were the openings of caves, and that there were people in these caves moving about.  When I did this my eyes were focussed for the reading distance.  Then I looked at the same picture at the reading distance, still imagining that the spots were caves with people in them.  ...and I was able to read the lettering beside the picture."

When I first saw the picture above, of the Coliseum in Rome, I was reminded of this story of Dr. Bates.  The dark passageways of the photo reminded me of the caves that Dr. Bates had imagined, and of the people he imagined moving within those caves.  I wanted to get people like you to take this first step, using their imagination to improve their eyesight.

Let me ask you this.  When you first looked at the picture above, did you notice the group of people in the lower right hand corner?  Their clothes are in colors different than the surrounding concrete.  Once you have an idea that they are there, let your imagination rule.  If there were tiny people, moving about in those archways and openings of the Coliseum, what would they look like?

To use this idea to improve your eyesight, you must RELAX.  Play with this idea, closing your eyes or looking away if you find your eyesight getting worse or if you encounter any discomfort or pain.  Don't do anything that hurts.

And of course, if you really want to get your eyesight back to normal, give me a call or email me to set up an appointment.  As Dr. Bates says, it can be "very difficult", to do it on your own.  Take the easier route and get help from someone that has been helping people regain their normal eyesight for over 12 years.

All the best to you in your path back to normal, Centered Vision.
